Meet Dr. Kevin Chang
Dr. Kevin Chang earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of the Pacific and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at New York University College of Dentistry. During this time, he received many awards for his leadership and service. Upon graduation, Dr. Kevin went to practice in an especially under-served area in New Mexico. He focused on treating patients who were in much need of medical and dental care - many of his patients who had lived lives in poor health and dental neglect. This experience forged a dedication to helping those who are most in need.

Q: What makes your office different?
A: We are a biological and holistic dental practice that blends modern dentistry with whole-body health principles. Rather than focusing only on teeth, we view the mouth as a gateway to overall wellness. Our care is fluoride-free, mercury-safe, and centered on biocompatible materials designed to support long-term systemic health.
Q: What makes Transcend Dental Health different from a traditional dentist?
A: Unlike traditional dental offices that primarily treat symptoms, our approach focuses on root-cause healing. We integrate Western science with holistic principles, use non-toxic and biocompatible materials, and consider how oral health impacts the immune system, airway, microbiome, and overall health.
Q: Do you see families?
A: Yes. We provide holistic dentistry for both children and adults, making our office a supportive dental home for the entire family.
Q: Do you see children?
A: Yes. We treat children in our office, though we do not offer sedation for pediatric patients. Treatment options depend on your child’s comfort and ability to cooperate, and we focus on creating a calm, gentle experience.

A: Your first visit typically lasts about two hours and includes a comprehensive exam, digital X-rays, and a detailed consultation to review your health history, dental concerns, lifestyle, and systemic health connections.
Q: How do I prepare for my first appointment at Transcend Dental Health?
A: We ask new patients to complete digital forms in advance and bring any recent lab work or dental X-rays. Be prepared to discuss your overall wellness, diet, lifestyle, and health goals.

A: Yes. We follow established mercury-safe removal protocols, including the SMART Protocol and the Hal Huggins Protocol, to protect patients and staff while minimizing mercury exposure and supporting detoxification.
Q: What is your approach to root canals?
A: From a biological perspective, root canal-treated teeth are considered long-term temporary solutions. These teeth can harbor bacteria that may contribute to chronic inflammation or systemic health concerns over time.
Q: Do you remove root canal-treated teeth?
A: Yes. We offer biological tooth removal focused on reducing systemic impact and supporting healing. This may include ozone therapy, PRF/LPRF, and bone grafting when appropriate.

A: Yes. We offer biocompatible implant options and often recommend hybrid zirconia/titanium implants. Each treatment plan is customized based on bone health and overall wellness.

Q: Do you help with detox or chronic illness support?
